Students of Swedru Senior High School in the Central Region are in shock after 12 students were identified with lumps believed to be cancerous in their breasts.
Out of a total of 223, the affected students were identified during a beast screening exercise in the school organized by the Meena Breast Cancer Foundation (MBCF).
The screening exercise was done after a riveting sensitization on breast cancer for the over two thousand students and staff.
The exercises are done as part of the daily fight against the disease which is the second killer disease among women.
Governments have woefully not paid attention to the menace concentrating all efforts to combat the disease only in October yearly while people die daily as mortality statistics scarily show.
Many other tertiary, basic, and secondary schools have benefitted from the campaign.
Aside from its sensitization and breast screening exercises, Meena Breast Cancer Foundation funds the treatment of patients to unburden them of the huge cost of medical care.
MBCF was established two years ago.
