67 year old widow, Comfort Yeboah finds solace as Crime Check Foundation, CCF gifts her One Thousand Six Hundred Ghana Cedis business capital to enable her cater for her orphan grandchildren.
Madam Yeboah said her only daughter and her husband have passed away leaving behind their twin children whom she struggles to cater for. Narrating the cause of her daughter’s demise, she said herself and her daughter started feeling pains in their neck after she collected excreta that an unidentified person had strangely defecated behind her daughter’s newly bought water reservoir.
The old woman said the pains she experienced stopped but her daughter’s pains persisted and eventually developed into a boil. She said after several visits to the hospital, doctors couldn’t diagnose the cause of the ailment. “Two weeks after my daughter had bought her Polytank, she saw faeces behind it as she went to sweep around it during one early morning. She called me to come and see it and after taking a look I collected it. Shortly after that the two of us started feeling strange pains in our necks.” She said.
The poor widow said her daughter died two weeks after the boil burst into large sores even after failed attempts to treat the ailment. “After failed attempts by doctors to treat my daughter, she met a man in town who told her that the ailment was not a normal one. The man took care of her till the boil burst into a wound but unfortunately she couldn’t survive.” She said.
The 67 year old widow said taking care of her two orphan grandchildren has been a struggle as her onion business has not been lucrative because she did it with a meager business capital. “I am able to buy a half bag of onions and sell because the market is bad so I have decided to sell plastic bowls and containers.” She told crimecheckghana.
She said she lives in a single room with the children as a cater taker because she cannot afford to rent a room due to financial difficulties.
The old widow’s orphan grandchildren said they fear that their future dreams will be ruined as their grandmother will be unable to pay their fees.
CCF through its donors gave Comfort One Thousand Six Hundred Ghana Cedis as business capital and for her upkeep in addition to two pieces of wax print.
The old woman thanked CCF and its donors for supporting her. “God bless you and grant you long life for you to continue to take care of the children. May God bless your businesses and restore what you have lost for my sake.” She prayed.
CCF is appealing to benevolent individuals to support the old woman to establish a business to enable her cater for her children through school.
The gesture forms part of CCF’s Charity Series which is used to solicit support for poor individuals and families to gain livelihood.
